Getting Auto Insurance Quote in California

I am from San Francisco CA, have a license from California, car registration in CA, etc. I am going to school in Texas and I was wondering when looking for car insurance, should I be getting quotes from my house in San Francisco CA zip code or would I want where I am living at school in Texas zip code?

It will be up to the individual insurance provider, but if your residence is in San Francisco CA, you may be able to use the CA residence and zip code – since you will be a student away in college and does not reside in Texas.
Some insurance providers will permit an insurance policy for a vehicle that is away at school in a different state while other insurance carrier’s guidelines may not permit for this since the vehicle will mainly be driven and garaged in another state.
