I have had an sr22 on file for the past five years and I think I no longer need it. I live in San Francisco, California.I have not had any ticket in five years. How will I know if I no longer need it?

The most effective and best way to find out if you need an SR22 financial responsibility certificate is to contact the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in your area. You may be able to reach the California Department of Motor Vehicle at 1 (800) 777-0133.

Also you can visit your local drivers license office. They should be able to tell you regarding your question if you still need to carry an sr22 or not.

I would also like to suggest that you contact the DMV because rules and laws are very arbitrary when it comes to an SR22. In some states you can use the internet to check the license requirements.
